Star of Food Network's "Sugar Rush" and Owner of CakeLove Bakery Helps Raise Funds for Ocean Conservation During the Holiday Baking Season

After launching its "Eat a Cookie, Save the Oceans" holiday gift program, international ocean conservation group, Oceana, is announcing its partnership with Warren Brown, star of the Food Network's popular baking show, "Sugar Rush," and owner of DC's acclaimed from-scratch bakery, CakeLove. Holiday shoppers can now virtually adopt a marine animal through Oceana's website and receive up to 16 ocean-themed cookie cutters, a baking mitt, an official adoption certificate, ocean facts and a sugar cookie recipe designed especially for this program by Brown.
"What's the link between cupcakes, cookies and the ocean? We don't bake with sea salt, but we still want to make sure it's harvested from safe waters. We're all obliged to help protect the environment and we're proud to help out in any way possible," said Brown.
Proceeds from Oceana's holiday adoption program go toward Oceana's ongoing conservation efforts that help fight pollution, protect coral reefs and sea creatures, and eliminate unsustainable fishing. At www.Oceana.org/adopt, supporters can select up to 16 sea creatures to adopt. The first tier donation includes one cookie cutter shaped like the adopted sea creature, an adoption certificate, creature facts and CakeLove's sugar cookie recipe. For $75 and above, adoption packages will contain four cookie cutters, and donations of $100 or more will include an exclusive Oceana baking mitt. A donation of $250 or more will include all materials, including Oceana's complete 16-piece cookie cutter set.
"We're excited that we now have a delicious CakeLove recipe to promote along with our holiday cookie cutters -- when people take a bite of their marine creature shaped cookies, they'll know that it was baked with extra 'love' for the oceans," said Oceana's Manager of e-Activism and Marketing, Maureen McGregor.
As a host of "Sugar Rush" on The Food Network and the owner of CakeLove, Brown loves working in the kitchen and developing new products that are sold through his bakery and cafe. Once a successful lawyer, his career path has been anything but normal, which adds to a lot of the excitement in the sweets he creates. He has been recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit and featured by "The Oprah Winfrey Show,""The Today Show," People Magazine, Southern Living and many others. Brown continues to pursue his entrepreneurial spirit by building additional retail storefronts and expanding the product line. He contributes his time and energy to other charitable causes by speaking to young students and rising entrepreneurs about business development and finding one's passion.
