Charles Bryan Streaker Sr., field assistant for Larriland Farms and owner of Cedarlane Farms, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of green farming practices. Through more than 34 years of experience in agriculture, Streaker has determined practices that conserve energy, yield greater efficiency and increase profit margins.
This agriculture expert doesn't blink twice when it comes to cultivating land. He worked in sales for 10 years at Westminster Tractor Supply, bestowing him with a greater understanding of agricultural tools and devices. As the owner of Cedar Lane Farms, Streaker streamlined the 70-acre property from raising cattle to tilling corn and hay. The net result was an environmentally sound and lucrative operation. He has served the Maryland Farm Bureau as a consultant to the Board of Directors, informing them on relevant and breaking agricultural news. The bureau has since awarded Streaker with two Silver Star Pins for service on international policy.
Presently, Streaker works as a field assistant at Larriland Farm. Larriland Farm utilizes a multi-tiered integrated pest management system, or IPM. By using disease-resistant crop varieties, limited pesticides, a sanitary environment and enriched soil, Streaker yields safe, high quality crops. Additionally, he helps enforce the environmental and cultural controls while adhering to strict seasonal timelines. Larriland Farm, which offers hay rides, a strawberry maze and bountiful harvests from which to pick, will re-open to the public in early June.
Streaker received his bachelor of science in dairy technology with a minor in business from the University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in 1967. He has undergone pesticide and chemical training through the Maryland Health Department and the United States Air Force. He has also completed numerous Maryland State Health Department training courses. Streaker is a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau and former director of the Howard County Farm Bureau.
