Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c74416) has announced the addition of "Molecular System Bioenergetics: Energy for Life" to their offering.
The book takes account of the shifting perspective in the study of cellular energetics, for the first time addressing energy metabolism on a systems biology level. It includes a brief review of classical bioenergetics, but its main focus is on recent approaches to study systems bioenergetics, both on the cellular and on the organ level. Novel concepts of metabolite channelling and of metabolons are introduced. A large part is devoted to metabolic signalling and its pathological implications, e. g. in the so-called metabolic syndrome. The final part of the book describes the application of systems bioenergetics to the study of cancer, cell death and other medically important processes.
In this first integrated view, practically each of the world's leading experts has contributed to this one and only authoritative resource on the topic. Bringing systems biology to cellular energetics, they address in detail such novel concepts as metabolite channelling and medical aspects of metabolic syndrome and cancer.
