PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ — Cubellis, a national architectural, interior design, and engineering firm with offices in Philadelphia and New Jersey, and The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey are proud to announce that the college’s F-wing Expansion has been awarded LEED(TM) Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The F-Wing Expansion provides additional classrooms and faculty offices within the academic core of the Stockton campus. A central feature of the addition is the sky-lit, two-story atrium, which adds a large public gathering space to the building and provides daylight to the interior of the F-Wing.
The F-Wing Expansion was designed to achieve LEED Certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. LEED verifies environmental performance, occupant health and financial return. LEED was established for market leaders to design and construct buildings that protect and save precious resources while also making good economic sense.
“Since its founding, Stockton has been a leader in environmental stewardship,” said Cubellis Principal, William Dix. “College officials allowed and encouraged us to make this project a showpiece of environmentally sensitive design.”
Continuing Stockton’s History of Support for Sustainability
“This wonderful facility has become a focal point of our campus. The College’s F-Wing Expansion reflects Stockton’s longstanding commitment to green technology and sustainability. We actively pursue environmentally responsible decision-making as a leader in environmental stewardship,” said Stockton President Dr. Herman J. Saatkamp, Jr.
The College’s strong sustainability credentials include its sensitive land use of the environmentally fragile Pinelands campus, nationally recognized excellence in environmental studies programs, and early adoption of innovative technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel use, including geothermal heating and cooling, solar panels, and the new Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage System.
A High-Performance, Energy-Efficient Health Learning Environment
“The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey F-Wing Expansion team is to be commended for achieving LEED Certification for the project. This facility is one that both the community and the College can be proud of,” said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO, Founding Chair US Green Building Council. “The F- Wing Expansion will be a showcase for a high-performance, energy efficient, healthy learning environment, and an inspiration to others.”
