Posted on: Monday, 17 December 2007, 09:00 CST

BEER-SHEVA, Israel, December 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ICL Industrial Products (ICL-IP) announced its plan to produce Fyrol PCF (Tris (2-chloroisopropyl) phosphate - TCCP) and Fyroflex BDP (Bisphenol A bis (diphenyl phosphate)) at ICL-IP plant in Zhapu Industrial Park, China.

Both Fyrol PCF and Fyroflex BDP are phosphorus based flame retardants; Fyrol PCF is used for flexible polyurethane in furniture and beddings applications and in rigid polyurethane for construction applications. Fyroflex BDP is used in engineering thermoplastic blends, primarily polycarbonate/styrenic blends, polyesters and high impact polystyrene.

The production of both these products, scheduled to come on stream by the end of 2008, is aiming to provide for the growing demand of the electronics and housing industries for these efficient flame retardants. At the first stage the plant is designed to produce 10,000 metric tons annually of each of these products.

ICL Industrial Products is one of ICL's three operating segments. It produces bromine, magnesia and chlorine from Dead Sea brines, and manufactures and markets a range of compounds, including flame retardants, bromides for industry, agriculture and water treatment, as well as a range of magnesia products and chlorine-based products for numerous uses. Recently ICL-IP acquired Supresta, the industry leader in the manufacture, distribution, and service of organophosphorus flame retardants.
