Airports Department Buys 352 Acres for Expansion

The Salt Lake City Department of Airports on Wednesday plans to close on the purchase of 352 acres of land just west of the Salt Lake City International Airport for $30.5 million cash.

Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann has said that the land will be used to protect the airport from encroaching development and to leave room for expansion.

The seller of the property, Skypark International LC and Mountain Enterprises LLC, is a family-owned real-estate company based in Sanpete County. The company is owned by three brothers: Wendell, Gene and Evan Jacobson. They own and manage more than 8,000 apartment units in 12 states.

The Jacobsons purchased the property about 10 years ago from the estate and holdings of Frank and Nadine Gillmore.
