Arla to Increase Production in Wisconsin
Dairy company Arla Foods has announced that it plans to invest around DKK75 million in Hollandtown Dairy, its American yellow cheese dairy. The aim of the company is to double its production capacity.
In 2008 and 2009, the dairy in Hollandtown, Wisconsin, will be extended to include a brining facility, likely to come from the now defunct Aars dairy in Denmark, as well as two packing lines. Parts of the dairy will also be upgraded to improve the production flow and raise capacity from 8,000 to 10,000 tons. The DKK30 million investment for 2008 was recently approved by Arla Foods’s supervisory board.
The company is also planning further investments that are aimed at increasing the dairy’s production capacity to 20,000 tons over the next four to five years.
Tim Jorgensen, director of Arla Foods’s international markets, said: “Over the past years, we’ve shown that we can grow the US business. For us to maintain our growth, we plan to channel further investments into the company.”
