Plan to Build 14 Water Desalinizing Stations

According to Al-Khabar newspaper (February 24, 2008), the Algerian government is planning to build 14 water desalination stations before 2011 in the framework of the National Water Desalination Plan. These facilities will provide 2.260 millions cubic meters of waters. El Megta is one of the most important stations, it will be constructed in west Algiers, and will reach 200 thousands cubic meters daily capacity, the project is expected to be finished as by 2010. Two stations will be constructed in Tlemcen, a western province, with the same production capacity, while others will be constructed in Beni Saf and Mostaganem, both western provinces. The project will produce 1.190 millions cubic meters of water before the end of the ongoing year, achieving by 2011 2.260 millions cubic meters per day.
