"The Looming Crisis in Water"

WHY:

It is widely accepted water will be the "oil" of the 21st century. Unlike oil, however, the planet cannot survive without water. Ecosystem and human health--the quality of life on the planet--depend upon water. The Urban Water Research Center presents an afternoon of discussion with water leaders--including members of water boards of Southern California, engineers, water keepers, and researchers.

The media, including environmental, science, business and technology editors are invited to participate in these discussions and encouraged to learn more about the water issues for readers and viewers. Cameras permitted upon request.

How are we preparing for climate change?

What is meant by "adaptation" and what is meant by "mitigation" and how do these concepts affect the planning for sustainable water resources?

What types of water recycling are feasible?

What role does integrated water management play in Southern California?
