LAKE PLACID, N.Y., March 6 /PRNewswire/ — High Peaks Resort — formerly the Hilton Lake Placid — will open this summer in the world-famous and picturesque Adirondack Mountain village of Lake Placid, NY. The upscale, boutique-like property is situated on seven acres on Mirror Lake and in the heart of Main Street’s shopping, entertainment and dining district, with spectacular lake and high peak mountain views.

The beautifully designed 133-room resort will be casually elegant, contemporary and with an energetic flair, sporting regional touches and taking full advantage of dramatic sweeping vistas and its venerable Main Street location.

“Lake Placid has been a year-round resort and grand international vacation destination for more than 100 years,” said John Dodson, General Manager of the new resort. “High Peaks Resort will celebrate the region’s beauty and build on that tradition to provide an outstanding guest experience. It will offer a unique combination of location, accommodations, outstanding banquet, conference and catering facilities, retail and dining options, all supported by a commitment to exceptional service.”

The complete redesign and upgrade of the property’s guestrooms and public spaces will be highlighted by a spectacular “floating” lobby with two-sided stone fireplace, maple stained woods and scenic mural of the Adirondack region; 10,000 square feet of up-to-date meeting space accommodating up to 800 guests; two new restaurants featuring regional cuisine; a lobby bar; three indoor and outdoor pools with a large rock formation and waterfall; an expanded fitness center with the latest equipment; a spa with an array of treatments, and a full-service 24-hour complimentary business center.

Commented Thomas Hamilton, President of Richmond, VA-based Thomas Hamilton & Associates, the hospitality design firm heading up the transformation, “High Peaks Resort will have a decidedly upscale feel with beautiful finishes, fine woods, soft seating and warm colored fabrics throughout, combined with transitional Adirondack touches such as local photography for artwork.”

New, Upscale Accommodations

High-end accommodations will include 79 guestrooms with double queen beds and 54 with king beds. A number of deluxe rooms situated on Mirror Lake will offer fireplaces, whirlpool tubs and direct beach access. All will be appointed with casually elegant decor and granite finishes, with such comforts as:

   * European-styled bathrooms with natural stone tiled walk-in showers, granite vanities and fine spa-type amenities * High quality bedding and linens * Designer furnishings * Superior lighting * Oversized work desks * The latest technology with flat screen televisions and multi-function music systems with MP3 Players and movies

High Peaks Resort will also provide complimentary WiFi throughout the complex, a full selection of water activities on its lakefront, and a fulltime concierge to arrange guided area fishing trips and boating, golf outings, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and skiing.

Fresh, Healthy Cuisine

Full-service restaurants will include the historic “Dancing Bears” with cozy street-side seating, and the upscale “Reflections” restaurant, entered via a promenade from the lobby. It will feature a wine room, outdoor patio and fire-pit overlooking Mirror Lake, and serve regional menus of fresh, healthy cuisine that utilize local produce and the finest fish and prime meats from New York State and Canada.

“P.R.’s” is the intimate lobby bar named for local dignitary, Mr. Peter Roland, whose family began the history of hospitality in this location dating back nearly 100 years. With knotty-pined walls, comfortable oversized leather seating and complimentary newspapers, it will feature coffee, snacks and savory hors d’oeuvres.

Conference Comfort

Topping off the new decor, the conference and banquet areas will provide more than 10,000 square feet of flexible facilities, some with contiguous courtyard and pool area access. The latest in conference-comfort technology will feature audiovisual aides such as drop-down screens and adjustable lighting. A full range of professional meeting, event and wedding planning services will be available.

Situated amid the 6-million acre Adirondack Park, Lake Placid recently received the prestigious Number One ranking in the book, “101 Best Outdoor Towns: Unspoiled Places to Visit, Live & Play” by Sarah Tuff and Greg Melville. The area offers an exciting line-up of winter sports activities, hiking, bicycling, swimming, golf, shopping, sightseeing and historic Olympic venues.
