Turtle Creek Woman Who Sledded into Frozen Hay Sues

A Turtle Creek woman on Wednesday sued Allegheny County and two municipalities in connection with a sledding crash at Boyce Park.

Stacey Rae Kelly named Monroeville and Plum as defendants in the lawsuit filed in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. The lawsuit states Kelly suffered a broken back and broke both legs and ankles in the accident on Feb. 11, 2007.

Kelly said in the suit she was sledding when she tried to stop her slide with a hay bale placed at the bottom of the hill, not knowing the bale had frozen into a block of ice. The suit states she has undergone surgery seven times for her injuries.
