Skybridge Will Be a Divider

Bridges are nice. I love the Eccles bridge at the University of Utah, and I like all nice bridges over rivers. However, when a bridge is being used to funnel people from one end of a mall to another so they can bypass Main Street and existing local merchants, this “skybridge” is a method of segregation rather than connection.

The downtown Salt Lake merchants that have survived the awful decision to raze historic city buildings to build the City Creek Center deserve our local support. April 1 will be the final vote of approval by the Salt Lake City Council for the skybridge. We need to speak out so this bad idea is shot down.
