North Korea Hails Research Successes in Fishery Science
Text of report in English by state-run North Korean news agency KCNA
Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) – Scientists of the branch Academy of Fishery Science under the State Academy of Sciences keep extending research successes.
They are engaged in the efforts to increase and protect aquatic resources by the methods of artificial incubation and stocking waters with fish fry to suit the actual conditions.
They, basing themselves on the already-made successes in the establishment of artificial propagation technology of sea fishes such as sea urchin, sea cucumber and flatfish and bivalvia, are deepening scientific researches with a target to release fry of sea fishes of new kinds.
They are solving the scientific and technological problems arising in the cultivation of sea weeds while properly fixing main kinds for mariculture including kelp culture and oyster breeding.
The scientists of the East sea institute of mariculture and the West sea institute of mariculture have gone to fishery stations from the beginning of the year to introduce various methods of fish breeding including breeding in coastal waters, ponds and net yards.
They are also solving the scientific and technological problems arising in breeding fishes such as crustacea, echinodermata, bivalvia and grey mullet.
Efforts are concentrated on the scientific researches which are of great practical significance in firmly ensuring productivity at an early date by newly establishing sea culture and fish-farming suitable to regional features of coasts and introducing right species.
The scientists of the institute of fish-breeding science are intensifying researches into mixed feed for fish suitable to the actual conditions.
