HARRISBURG, Pa., March 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Pennsylvanias agricultural and environmental leaders will gather this summer to identify opportunities to better protect Pennsylvanias land and waters, said Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff.

Agriculture and the Environment: Achieving Balance is slated for June 1-3 at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey in Harrisburg. The first- time event is hosted by the Department of Agriculture and the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences.

Protecting our natural resources and the environment is a top priority for Pennsylvania, said Wolff. This conference is bringing together experts who will work together to help identify new strategies for improving our states water quality while recognizing that economic and environmental issues must be in balance.

Wolff said Pennsylvania agriculture is working diligently to employ new technology, nutrient management plans and best management practices on farms, and welcomes the opportunity to discuss the importance of finding solutions to environmental challenges.

Conference participants will also screen a documentary developed by Penn State Public Broadcasting that portrays the diverse sources and issues relating to nutrients, including management and impacts on the environment.
