Deadline Nears for B-WISER Camp

WOOSTER — The Buckeye Women In Science, Engineering and Research Institute will hold its B-WISER summer science camp June 22-27 at The College of Wooster. The application deadline is April 30.
The program is open to girls who have just completed the seventh grade. The goal is to enhance interest in science and research.
The camp is a team-taught, hands-on, weeklong experience. Girls will stay on campus and use college labs. During the day, students will take a full curriculum, with experiments in chemistry, computer science, physics, life science, robotics and earth science.
In the evening, scientists will share in areas such as boomerangs and physics. Karen Holt will explain the physics of hot air ballooning and demonstrate with her hot air balloon. On the last day, local women will share their experiences on the road to a career in science.
Cost is $475, with scholarships available from the Noble Foundation for students in school reduced-lunch programs. Applications may be downloaded from www.wooster.edu/bwiser.
