Fires Burn Through Acreage in Nev., Ariz.

About 50 percent of fire burning about 10 miles from Reno, Nev., has been contained, fire officials said.
The wind-fueled fire consumed about 1,200 acres, forced the closure of a major highway, threatened homes and prompted the evacuation from nearby school, the Reno (Nev.) Gazette-Journal reported Wednesday.
Fire investigators said they determined winds downed a power line onto dense foliage in Skinner, Nev., triggering the blaze.
The fire has burned around homes, said Reno fire department spokesman Steve Frady. It's burning primarily in moderate-to-dense sage brush, bitter brush and cheat grass.
In Arizona, meanwhile, investigators said humans may have set a wildfire burning in Tusayan, the Arizona Daily Sun in Flagstaff reported.
So far about 2,000 acres have burned. The fire has moved closer to the southern boundary of the Grand Canyon National Park but hasn't moved into the area, the Kaibab National Forest officials said in a news release.
Emergency crews said the fire hasn't prompted evacuations and hasn't threatened buildings, the town of Tusayan and surrounding highways.
