Quake Rumbles Off Japanese Coast

An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale rumbled off the coast of Honshu, Japan, the U.S. Geological Survey reported Wednesday.

The quake occurred 1:45 a.m. Thursday about 100 miles east-northeast of Tokyo, the USGS said.

The quake was about 21 miles below sea level in the Pacific Ocean.
