Free ‘Green Cone’ for Food Waste

A free composting device has been distributed to homes in Mid Devon which do not recycle food waste.

Over 400 households not signed up to the district’s brown bin scheme have been offered a “green cone”.

It is capable of dealing with all food waste, unlike a garden composter, which cannot take cooked food.

The cone converts the waste into water, carbon dioxide and a small amount of residue.

The user does not need to mix or turn the waste.
