Star Trek?
By EDDIE FITZMAURICE
ACTOR Colm Meaney had admitted he can’t stand science fiction – despite his seven years in Star Trek.
The Dublin-born star, who played Chief Miles O’Brien in the sci- fi classic, said he never watched the show before landing the part and was not sorry when he left.
"I was never actually a fan of Star Trek and, you know, science fiction would not have been my favourite genre – I never really developed an interest in it," he said. "Don’t get me wrong, we had a great crew and a great cast and I had a great time doing the show.
"We did 26 episodes a year for seven years and there were maybe three or four duds in a year which wasn’t bad.
"But after seven years it was a perfect time to quit, walk away and do other things."
