500 Trees Planted in Port Klang

PORT KLANG: Northport (Malaysia) Bhd is playing its part in protecting the environment.

In keeping with its environmental programme “Adopting Port Klang 2007″, Northport has planted 500 trees,

About 300 Northport employees and staff of the Klang Municipal Council participated in the programme.

The programme is aimed at creating awareness of environmental issues and the importance of clean bus and taxi terminals.

Northport assistant general manager for facilities, Abi Sofian Abdul Hamid said: “By planting 500 trees, we are making a small contribution to our nature, town and the overall environment.

“This is a small seed to ensure our environment is always cherished,” he added.

He said the participation of local schools will encourage students to be more responsible to the environment.

Samsung and Rukun Tetangga are also participating in the programme, which is also aimed at creating more awareness of the environment among Port Klang residents,

Klang Municipal Council director of public relations, Dawari Daud said MPK’s synergy with Northport has attracted several schools by way of planting trees.
