Albemarle to Increase Prices of ADMA(R) and DAMA(R) Amine Products

BATON ROUGE, La., May 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Specialty chemicals maker Albemarle Corporation will increase the prices of its ADMA and DAMA amine products by between 10 and 20 percent effective worldwide July 1, 2008 or as contracts allow.

New minimum delivered prices for some of the more common amine products follow. All prices are on a full-container shipment basis (approximately 20 metric tons).
-- ADMA 12 Amine $3.10/kg -- ADMA 14 Amine $3.30/kg -- ADMA 16 Amine $3.50/kg -- DAMA 1010 Amine $4.80/kg
The price increases are needed to help offset ongoing large increases in the costs of energy, raw materials and transportation.
Albemarle makes and markets amines used in the production of quaternary ammonium compounds for biocides, oilfield chemicals, amine oxides and betaines for surfactants. The amines product lines are part of Albemarle's Fine Chemicals business segment.
