Frick School in Oakland has been recommended as the site for the Pittsburgh Public Schools’ new science and technology magnet school.

School officials said Tuesday that “Dream, Discover, Design” will be the motto of the Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy scheduled to open for the 2009-10 school year.

The district estimates it will cost $14 million to convert the Frick building for use by 550 students in grades 6-12.

The district also looked at the Carnegie Science Center on the North Shore as a possible location for the Science and Technology Academy, which is designed for students who want to focus their studies in science, technology, engineering and math.
