China Blasts Japan Over Boat Collision
The Chinese government says it’s not happy with the actions of the Japanese coast guard after a Taiwanese fishing boat sank in a crash with a patrol vessel.
China’s Foreign Ministry said Wednesday the country owns indisputable sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands, where the incident happened Tuesday morning, and has asked Japan to stop illegal activities there, China Daily reported.
We are seriously concerned and strongly dissatisfied with the incident that caused the sinking of the Taiwan fishing boat, Chinese Foreign Ministry Qin Gang said at a news conference.
Qin said the Japanese coast guard vessel collided with the fishing boat early Tuesday about 5 miles south of the islands, necessitating the rescue of the fishing boat’s 16 crew members.
