Emergency Center Celebrating 20 Years

The Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center is celebrating its 20 year anniversary at 10 a.m. on Monday.

VECC currently serves a population of 980,000 people in the Salt Lake Valley. On average, employees dispatch approximately 2,100 calls daily for service. During the 2002 Olympics, VECC was also nationally recognized for its $8.3 million communications facility.

The celebration and program will be attended by members of all 17 political jurisdictions and 19 public safety departments that are served by VECC and all current and previous employees.
