10 Rescued After Canoe Mishap

Ten people were rescued from the Milwaukee River after they ended up in the water during a canoe trip, emergency officials in Ozaukee, Wis., said.

The officials said one member of the party, which included five adults and six children, reached shore after the Sunday night incident and called for help, WISN-TV in Milwaukee, reported Monday.

They said the party ended up in the water after one of the four canoes capsized and the occupants of the three remaining boats ended up in the water while attempting to rescue others.

Crews from several local fire and rescue departments arrived at the scene to find the 10 canoeists clinging to low tree branches in the water.

Officials said all of the party members were rescued and two suffered minor injuries.
