Jun. 18–VIROQUA, Wis. — A Disaster Recovery Center opened Tuesday in Viroqua to assist people who were affected by the severe weather earlier this month.
The center and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at Living Faith Church, 852 N. Main St. “Residents affected by the disaster can visit the DRC in order to meet face-to-face with representatives of state, federal and voluntary agencies to receive information about the recovery process,” said Dolph Diemont, who leads the federal side of flood response and recovery efforts in Wisconsin.
Officials plan to open additional centers in other counties later this week.
Residents who plan to stop by the center are urged to register for assistance before their visit. Residents can register by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or by visiting www.fema.gov.
FEMA mitigation specialists are scheduled to be on hand at the center to provide information and answer questions about cost-effective rebuilding and repair techniques to reduce property damage in future disasters.
Officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration also will be available to answer questions about the SBA disaster-loan program and assist with disaster loan applications. The SBA offers low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes to repair or replace damaged or destroyed property.
