Keep the Chemicals Off Your Lawn

June 18, 2008

Re “Don’t water the lawn” (Monitor letter, June 16):

I also notice much wasted water, but that is not the worst part. It is all of fertilizer and poison my neighbors dump on their lawns. It all runs nicely down the storm drains, poisoning the local wildlife. You notice the stench of these chemicals whenever you walk around the neighborhood. It’s a sickening smell. I don’t have to wonder why I have all of the birds and squirrels are living in my yard. There’s nowhere else for them to go. Stop poisoning our environment. Let your yard go wild. You’d be amazed at all of the interesting things that will still grow without your help.
