Rentech and UOP Form Alliance for Deployment of Clean Synthetic Fuels and Chemicals Technologies
Posted on: Thursday, 19 June 2008, 09:00 CDT
Rentech, Inc. (AMEX:RTK) today announced that it has formed an alliance with UOP LLC, a Honeywell company, to jointly offer the companies' respective technologies for the commercial production of synthetic fuels, specialty waxes and chemicals.
The non-exclusive agreement aligns Rentech's proprietary process to convert synthesis gas from biomass and fossil resources into hydrocarbons with UOP's hydrocracking and hydrotreating technologies that process and upgrade hydrocarbons into ultra-clean synthetic fuels, specialty waxes and chemicals.
"This alliance between Rentech and UOP provides a one-stop solution to developers of commercial synthetic fuels facilities worldwide for synthesis gas conversion and product upgrading," said Richard Penning, Executive Vice President of Commercial Affairs for Rentech.
As commercialization partners, Rentech and UOP expect to increase their market reach and jointly offer proven technologies that can produce ultra-clean synthetic fuels, specialty waxes and chemicals that are cleaner than traditional petroleum-derived fuels and chemicals.
"As the need for increasingly cleaner fuels continues to grow, we look forward to working with Rentech to offer better solutions worldwide," said Ashis Banerji, UOP Business Director for Refining. "Together we can offer a solution that is well suited to the production of high-quality, ultra-clean transportation fuels and high-value chemicals," Mr. Banerji continued.
