Most of Beach Reopened in Long Beach
By Pamela Hale-Burns
LONG BEACH – Beach closures were lifted Thursday for most of the 1.75 miles off-limits after a spill, according to Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services Beach Advisory and Closure Hotline.
However, an advisory is still in effect near Coronado Avenue. Water contact should be avoided at this location.
On Wednesday, swimmers in Long Beach were prohibited from going into the water along a 1.75 miles stretch west of Belmont Pier due to a sewage spill in Glendale that entered the Los Angeles River.
For information on beach closures and advisories call 562-570- 4134 or 562-570-4095, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
