State Asks for Info on Uranium Levels

The Colorado Department of Health and Environment asked the U.S. Army on Tuesday to investigate the amount of uranium at the Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site, where troops train.The letter from agency director Jim Martin comes a week after a state lawmaker raised concerns about uranium in Pinon Canyon. Martin sent the letter to Maj. Gen. Mark Graham, Fort Carson commander.Martin said reported amounts of uranium "do not indicate an immediate public health concern."Originally published by Berny Morson, Rocky Mountain News.
