Jack Answers Call of the Wild

June 25, 2008

FORMER First Minister Jack McConnell visited Edinburgh Zoo today to back a conservation group helping to protect wildlife in Malawi.

Mr McConnellis due to take over as the next British High Commissioner in the African country when the present incumbent steps down early next year.

Today’s visit was organised to support Project African Wilderness, which was formed to protect and restore the Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve in Southern Malawi.

As well as conservation work, the organisation supports projects that will benefit local people and allow them to take control of their own livelihoods through eco-tourism.
