Pinehills Slapped With $135K Fine
PLYMOUTH - Attorney General Martha Coakley's office entered into a settlement agreement with the Massachusetts developer Pinehills LLC for clean-water violations.
The 3,100-acre, 55-and-up development in Plymouth must pay a $135,000 civil penalty for violating the Massachusetts Clean Waters Act by discharging thousands of gallons of raw sewage."Owners and operators of sewage treatment facilities in Massachusetts must take all necessary precautions to prevent unlawful discharges or risk the payment of significant penalties and costly corrective action," Coakley said in a statement.
The settlement also requires Pinehills to contribute $15,000 to a water quality study of the Plymouth Harbor/Eel River estuary.
