Outdoor’s Calendar: Fishing Clinics

Jul. 6--Free fishing clinics continue for several more weeks at the Zebco casting pond adjacent to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks.Registration is required and can be done by calling the Wildlife Department at (918) 299-2334.
A wide range of summer-season programs and classes are under way at Tulsa Parks and Recreation's Oxley Nature Center in Mohawk Park.
Summer Cool: 9:30 a.m. Saturday For all ages. This class will take a stroll looking for cool, shady places in center grounds.
Full Thunder Moon: Monthly full moon walk. 7 p.m. July 16 for all ages.
Rock Art: 1:30 p.m. July 20 for ages 6-12. Kids will create a work of art using flower parts and a rock tool.
Wildflower Walk: 10:30 a.m. July 26 for all ages. The class is free and no registration is required.
Wheat Weaving: 1 p.m. July 26 for all ages.
The class will create a piece of heritage folk art. They will need patience and manual dexterity. A $7 fee to the general public will be charged. For more information, call (918) 669-6644 or visit www.oxleynaturercenter.org
Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in southwest Oklahoma offers one of its more unusual programs Saturday.
"Under the cover of darkness" is a rare opportunity to view the refuge's wildlife after dark.
Each tour bus will depart at 8:30 p.m. from the refuge visitor center. A $5 fee will be charged.

U.S. Shooting Academy, northeast of Tulsa, has begun a series of one-day self-defense courses on subjects such as one day survival skills, introduction to competitive handgun, close quarters handgun skills and several more.
The academy is also conducting shooting matches on most weekends that are open to the public. For more information, visit USShootingAcademy.com.
Open to the public matches also continue most weekends at Tulsa Red Castle Gun Club in the Zink Ranch north of Sand Springs. Next weekend will be busy, with three events slated for Saturday, including an IPSC match, three-position prone rifle match, and concealed carry class. Volunteers are being sought to host youngsters Saturday on Lake Texoma.
The kids are patients at Oklahoma Children's Hospital and the event is being hosted by North Oklahoma City Bassmasters.
