The Center, 4210 N. Campbell Ave., in cooperation with the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, has scheduled free spring gardening classes for April and May.

Master gardeners will help with plant identification, diagnosis and treatment suggestions.

“The public can bring their plant samples – a branch or a leaf or root – and hand it to one of two master gardeners on duty to have them diagnose the plant problem,” said Francine Correll secretary in the urban horticulture department at the center.

People can also take their plants or questions on a walk-in basis anytime from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – all for free.

Classes are:

April 13 – “Shopping for the best garden and landscape plants.”

April 20 – “Composting and mulching for garden success.”

April 27 – “Summer Watering of Landscapes, lawns and gardens.”

May 4 – “Palms for Tucson and how to grow them.”

May 11 – “Protecting plants from summer sun and heat.”

May 18 – “Weed control in gardens and landscapes.”

May 25 – Questions and answers session.
