Farm Creek Area Being Monitored for Flooding
Authorities in eastern Utah are bracing for the possibility of flash flooding in an area devastated by a deadly fire last year.
The U.S. Forest Service said this week that flooding has been reported near the site of the Neola North fire, which killed three people in June 2007. A spokesman for the Ashley National Forest said flooding has been reported downstream in Bacon Park and at private residences along the river corridor.
The Neola North fire torched 62 square miles of land in the Farm Creek area near the eastern Utah town of Neola. George Houston, 63, his son, Tracy, 43, and Roger Roberson, 75, were all killed in the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the FBI said. A power pole has been focused on in the yearlong investigation.
