Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs Statement

According to Oman News: Mohammed bin Khamis al Araimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, affirmed that hosting of the third GCC Youth Environment Forum during July 25th to August 1st 2008 by the Sultanate comes in response to the directives of the GCC leaders who highlighted the importance of raising the public awareness of environmental issue and urging the public to preserve and protect environment against pollution and exhaustion. Al Araim also pointed out that the forum will include theoretical, practical and recreational activities. The forum will foster bonds of friendly and brotherly among the GCC youths and raise their awareness of the environmental issues of interest to GCC countries and how to identify practical solutions for them. More than 60 students and supervisors representing different schools at the GCC countries, as well as, a number of government's departments in the Sultanate, such as, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Sports Affairs, in addition, to the Omani Environment Society will take part at the forum.
