Jul. 26–Summer celebrations

– Old Mill State Park: The Marshall County (Minn.) Council on Aging will sponsor a Celebration of Summer program Sunday at Old Mill State Park. Bring a dish to pass for a 1 p.m. potluck dinner. Beverages and utensils will be provided. A music festival from 1 to 5 p.m. will be sponsored by Newfolden Lions Club and Friends of Old Mill; bring a treat to share and a lawn chair. Other activities: Horse-drawn wagon rides, door prizes, horseshoes and classic cars. Bring your classic car to display. The Marshall County Historical Society will serve free ice cream cones in memory of past creamery picnics. All are welcome. Park pass: There will be a $3 special group daily vehicle pass good for that day; at the park office, please tell the office you’re attending the picnic. Directions to park: From Newfolden, Minn., go 11 miles west on County Road 4. From Argyle, Minn., go 12 miles east on County Road 4, then 1 mile north on County Road 4 to County Road 39. Exhibition Opening

– NDMOA exhibit: North Dakota Museum of Art in Grand Forks has set a public opening for Ewa Tarsia from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 23. Tarsia, a Winnipeg-based artist, was inducted into the Royal Academy of Arts in June 2007. Refreshments will be served.

Current exhibits

– Empire art: Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks has two artists on display in its lobby gallery. Janice Tingum, Grand Forks, has a display of watercolors, all or most of which hasn’t been shown before. Photographer Michael D. Ness of Soaring Eagle Photography has landscapes and other work on display. Exhibits run through: August; doors are open during Empire events and by appointment. Info: (701) 746-5500.

– Hatton Eielson Museum: An exhibit of works by local artists, including works in oil, chalk, pencil and photography, will be shown at Hatton Eielson Museum in Hatton, N.D., through Aug. 3. Some pieces will be for sale. Hours: Sundays from 1 to 4:30 p.m.; or call (701) 543-3828. Admission: Adults, $5; children, $1.
