Para Man in a Knots Landing
Free-fall parachutist Mike Cole J man put residents in a spin when he made an unscheduled spectacular landing during a display at Solihull.
For the member of a commando parachute display team missed his target and came down with a bang all! tangled and knotted in his chute – on the roof of a home in Lvndon Road.
The red-faced daredevil should have touched down with other team members in the grounds of nearby Chapel Fields School where the Arden Forest Corps of Drums were staging a marching display.
The drama beagan yesterday afternoon when Mike drifted off course and literally dropped in on a family living near the school.
Hearing a loud bang residents rushed to his aid and Mr. Bill Mace- field stepped in with his ladder.
The parachutist slithered several feet down the steep root ot the house ending up spreadeagled near the gutter.
Residents perched on ladders managed to steady him unti! a fire crew from Solihull arrived and disentangled his parachute.
Mr. Macefield, who lives in Lyndon Road, said he heard voices outside and people asking for a ladder as someone was stuck on a roof.
A fire spokesman said; “Mike had a lucky escape. Be could have been very badly injured.
