Four More Firefighters Headed to California

Four more volunteer firefighters from the Boone County Fire Protection District are heading to California to battle wildfires.
They will join other wildland firefighters from around the region and fly out of St. Louis tomorrow morning en route to Redding, Calif., the operations center for a total of 22 fires burning in Northern California, Division Chief Gale Blomenkamp said this morning in a news release.
The latest deployment will bring to nine the number of firefighters the fire district has sent to California this season.
Two of them are making their second trip, Blomenkamp said.
