Colour Flows Back to River
Part of a river which has turned bright green should return to normal over the weekend.
The Environment Agency is investigating after the River Trent, in Stone, changed colour late on Wednesday.
It is believed a quantity of water-based dye got into the river, possibly upstream in the Stoke-on-Trent or Newcastle area.
Tests found the substance to be harmless. An Environment Agency spokesman said: “We have measured dissolved oxygen, pneumonia and PH levels of the water and found nothing wrong.
“We have also received no reports of dead fish or wildlife.
“The river changed colour all the way to Tittensor but over the weekend we should see the colour of the water return to normal in all areas.
“Rainfall is predicted and that will help to clear it.”
