Ask Advice on the Environment

A SIMULATOR that shows drivers how to conserve fuel and a pedal- powered smoothie maker will be among the attractions at an environmental fair this Sunday.

The event at Bents Park, in South Shields, will be opened by Lucy Siegle, a reporter on the BBC's The One Show, and will give people the chance to get expert advice on how they can do their bit for the environment.

There will be a variety of activities and giveaways including free bike health checks, low-energy light-bulbs, seeds and compost vouchers.

A South Tyneside Council spokesman said: "Last year's event saw around 1,500 people flock to Bents Park. We are hoping for better weather and an even bigger turnout.

The event will run from 10am to 4.30pm.
