Florida wildlife officials said agents are searching for an adult tiger that went missing from McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary in Palm Beach County.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said all residents of The Acreage were being urged to stay inside their homes as agents searched for the tiger, which escaped from its cage Wednesday morning, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

Commission spokeswoman Gabriella Ferraro said an adult lion also escaped from its cage Wednesday, but was quickly found because it remained on the property. She said the animal was tranquilized and contained.

Agents were urging residents Wednesday to report any tiger sightings.

“We don’t know how either animal got out. We’re concerned about the public,” Ferraro said.
