POLAND SPRING – Poland Spring recently presented Lynne Richard, environmental education coordinator for the Portland Water District, with the 2008 Poland Spring Natural Leader Award.

Richard was lauded for developing the salmonid hatchery curriculum adopted by the Poland Spring education staff for their Trout in the Classroom program, as well as her overall dedication to water education in her position as Maine’s Project WET (Water in the Classroom) coordinator.

Richard, a Peaks Island resident, was presented the award at a July 16 luncheon attended by 2007 Poland Spring Good Neighbor Grant recipients.

Project WET, a nonprofit water science and education program promoting responsible water stewardship, was one of dozens of education, conservation, health and wellness, and fire and rescue programs throughout the state that received funds.
