8 Killed in Canyonlands Crash
Authorities say all eight persons aboard a twin-engine airplane were likely killed when it crashed near Utah’s Canyonlands National Park.
The Friday night crash came after a fire was reported to the Grand County Sheriff’s Department about 6 p.m., Salt Lake City’s KTVX-TV reported Saturday. A Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter in the area at the time found the plane wreckage at the fire site.
The owner of the plane and the victims had not yet identified. But authorities say all the victims were from the Iron County area and were heading from Canyonlands to Cedar City when the plane crashed near the Canyonlands Airport near Moab.
