Safety Team Listens to Local Concerns

CRIME and safety teams met with residents yesterday to discover which issues and areas of their neighbourhood need targeting in a clean-up operation.

Sedgefield Community Safety Partnership launched a Streetsafe initiative in the western area of Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, with a public surgery yesterday.

The Have Your Say Day, held in Burnhill Methodist Church, was arranged for members of the community to highlight the problems they most want to see targeted during the initiative.

Partnership members including police, Sedgefield Borough Council?s neighbourhood wardens, street cleansing teams, fire and rescue teams and residents groups, who will all work to tackle anti- social behaviour, crime and environment concerns.

They will also organise free activities for young people and offer advice about crime prevention.
