NWS: Fay Leftovers Cause Downed Trees

Several trees in the Atlanta area were downed as the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay passed through Georgia this week, the National Weather Service says.
The weather service said while there were no confirmed tornadoes during Tuesday's storm, the weather pattern did knock over several trees and caused a major mudslide in Atlanta, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said Wednesday.
The downed trees occurred in several different Georgia counties including Cherokee and Hall where their collapse damaged area structures.
On the positive side of the tropical storm's arrival in Georgia, the state received a temporary reprieve from drought-like conditions as Fay deposited an average rainfall of 1.5 inches across the state.
The Journal-Constitution said in other areas the rainfall, which helped create the Atlanta mudslide, reached even higher levels.
