Park in Need of New Helpers

September 1, 2008

VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help out at a country park.

The Rising Sun Country Park, in North Tyneside, has opportunities for people to help with land management, farm work, education, administration and events.

A spokesman said: “Volunteering provides the chance to meet new people, serve the community, learn new skills and enjoy the environment the park offers.”

Every Thursday a volunteers day is held when people work on various tasks within the site.

The 400-acre park has grassland, woodland, a pond, wetlands and a lake.

There is a bird hide for keen birdwatchers to use which overlooks the Swallow Pond.

For walkers, cyclists and horse riders there is an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways.

Anyone interested in volunteering should ring (0191) 200 7841.
