Lifestyle Team Bag Praise for Eco-Friendly Project
East Riding: A group of youngsters taking part in a community project have received help towards their environmental efforts.
The Tickton Trio of Dominic Jackson, 11, Amelia Jackson, 13, and Hetty Jackson, 10, all of Tickton, are taking part in the Humberside Police Lifestyle project.
They are spending the summer designing and creating reusable shopping bags to sell to neighbours and eliminate the need for plastic carriers.
Funds raised will go towards the village hall.
The Environment Agency were so impressed by their eco-friendly idea they supplied fabric, thread, sequins and fabric paint to enable the team to make more bags.
To celebrate 20 years of the Lifestyle project, the Environment Agency is asking Lifestylers to take part in a range of green projects.
As an added incentive and to help projects on their way, the agency is offering a financial contribution towards successful applications.
Phil Young, of the Environment Agency, said: “Anything that gives young people a purpose and enables them to contribute positively to their environment can only be a good thing.”
