Complain If You Think You’re in the Right

September 3, 2008

Recently along with my neighbours I received a letter from the county council highways department saying that it was going to remove six trees from the verge outside our houses.

Most of the trees were healthy and there is a dense, varied tree canopy with winter fruit that is loved by wildlife. Removing six trees would have opened up the canopy into islands and removed most of the fruiting trees.

The area would have been totally changed and it is doubtful wildlife would have been interested in it afterwards.

We contacted highways and arranged a meeting. One of the reasons given for removing the trees was that they might die in the next 10 to 20 years!

To cut a long story short it agreed to leave five of the trees, the one being taken down is unhealthy.

So don’t just accept what is going to happen.
