Brown Trout Found Dead Along Creek
LEHI (AP) -- State wildlife investigators are trying to determine what killed the adult and fingerling brown trout in Lehi's Dry Creek.
Residents who live near the creek reported seeing hundreds of dead fish to wildlife officials last week. On Friday, wildlife officer Chris Rhea recovered some of the fish for testing.
Rhea says he found at least 50 dead trout. It's unclear what killed the fish, but Rhea says it's likely a chemical was dumped into the creek. He says the substance is probably no longer present in the water.
Other wildlife along the 5-mile waterway appeared to be unaffected.
Rhea says he expects the Dry Creek trout to repopulate by next summer.
